About the Competition

The 36th edition of the International Competition for Pianists and Opera Singers Francesco Paolo Neglia will take place at the Teatro F. P. Neglia, Enna, from September 3rd to August 8th, 2024. It is open to piano soloists and opera singers of all nationalities. The Preliminary round will be online, and the Semi-Final and Final rounds will take place in person. The winner of the First Prize in the previous editions of the International Competition, Francesco Paolo Neglia, will not be able to participate in the Competition.

Who can participate

All Italian and foreign citizens not older than 40 on the starting date of the Contest can enter the Competition.

To enter the competition, the candidates must fill in and sign the form downloadable from the site www.comune.enna.it and send it not later than the 15th November 2024. The form and the required documents about the payment must be sent to the following email address: concorsoneglia@comune.enna.it

Winners of the 1st prize of other International Competitions (not in category) are exempted from the Online Preliminary round. The original diploma of the competition must be provided with the application form.

How to apply

Documents required:

• Link of the video*

• Artistic Curriculum;

• List of the pieces (with author, edition and duration) to be performed during the

rounds;

• Receipt of payment of the entry fee;

• Photocopy of a valid identification document;

• 2 recent photographs suitable for publication;

* Competitors must submit a link of a video containing their execution, with the following

requirements:

• 1. The videos may have been registered since January 2024.

• 2. No cuts or sequences may be merged in the videos.

• 3. The video can be made using cameras, mobile phones, tablets or any professional

recording systems.

• 4. The video must be posted on YouTube and set to Public or Not listed.

• 5. The video shall be entitled as follows:

• Francesco Paolo Neglia - First online rehearsal - Name, Surname, age and country.

• 6. It is recommended to keep the video viewable at least until the end of the competition

The entry fee is 80,00 € (eighty/00), net of bank charges, by bank transfer to:

PURPOSE: Francesco Paolo Neglia Competition 2024 entry fee.

The registration fee will not be refunded, unless the Administration is forced to delete one

of the sections because of an insufficient number of enrolments.

Competition procedure

The competition is divided into three rounds, with the following program:

ONLINE PRELIMINARY ROUND

The singers must perform two aria operas of their choice among the six presented. The

First-prize winners of International Competitions - not category contests - are exempt from

performing the first round, provided the prizes are documented with the original diploma of

the contest or a certified photocopy.

SEMIFINAL ROUND

The competitors who pass the online preliminary round must perform two arias chosen

by the Jury among the four presented during the semi-final and final rounds. The Jury

may decide to listen to only one piece.

FINAL ROUND

No more than 6 singers will be admitted to the final round. They will perform the

remaining two arias. If required, the candidates must perform the compositions by heart, complete with

recitative and cabaletta, in the original key and language.

Chamber arias, Sacred arias, Romances and Parlour Songs are not admitted.

The participants admitted to the second round will be informed on day 18th of November.
