About the Competition

The Luděk Golat Singing Competition is a prestigious international event that offers young opera singers a unique opportunity to launch their careers on some of the world’s most important opera stages.

An international jury will select, in Step 1, a group of finalists who will be rewarded with a three-day intensive workshop in the Czech Republic with leading opera professionals. Finalists will also receive a professional portfolio (photos, video aria, video interview) and free access to the Let’s Sing application with many exclusive benefits. In Step 2, the jury will choose three winners, who will receive prize money: €1,000 for 1st place, €700 for 2nd place, and €500 for 3rd place.

Oliver Dohnányi – conductor and artistic mentor with extensive international opera and symphonic experience.

Natalija Melnik – soprano and vocal mentor, focusing on vocal technique, interpretation and stage expression.

Paolo De Napoli – vocal coach and Italian repertoire specialist, working with singers on style, diction and musical detail.

Carmen Giannattasio – internationally acclaimed soprano, sharing her experience from major opera stages and concert halls.

Corrado Valvo – conductor and artistic collaborator, leading the final concert preparation and ensemble work.

Eugene Gunko – bass-baritone, vocal coach and répétiteur, working with singers on vocal training, repertoire and career preparation.

Tetiana Zozulia – opera stage director and producer, focusing on staging, dramaturgy and artistic development of performers.

Jelena Štefanić – soprano with an international opera and concert career, combining stage experience with artistic collaboration, cultural networking and festival development.

Who can participate

The competition is open to singers of all voice types aged 18 to 38. Only those with a talent profile on the Let’s Sing application are eligible to apply. Participants are responsible for their own accommodation and travel costs.

How to apply

To enter the first round, participants must submit two video recordings of opera arias (from two different operas, in the original language), along with a current headshot. Applications can only be submitted via the official Let’s Sing application at www.letssing.eu.

Competition procedure

All submitted recordings will be reviewed by the international jury. Finalists will be announced on the Let’s Sing website and via email before 4 November 2026. The final round will take place during the Gala Concert on 6 December 2026 in Ostrava, Czech Republic, where the jury will select the three winners. The workshop will be held from 3 to 6 December 2026 at the University of Ostrava, Faculty of Fine Arts and Music.
